Will Pipe Be Fitted With Metal Glue?
ASA Materials Market Digest©
Maybe one day, if someone figures out a way to scale up a metallic glue developed by researchers at Northeastern University. According to an article in ScienceDaily, the “glue” is from the elements of indium and gallium, and reportedly sets at room temperature requiring very little pressure to seal. The researchers described it, “…like welding or soldering but without the heat.” The real trick, however, is finding ways to mass produce lab findings in an economical way. Find Opportunities Where Others See Only Risk
ASA Advisor©
The risks of Brexit are whether it portends similar breakups in other EU countries and whether it acts as a harbinger of protectionist trends in other countries. This is an inherently unpredictable and fluid political situation. Keep in mind that during periods of cyclical decline, such as the current period, in which World Industrial Production is slowing, people are often overly quick to be pessimistic. Avoid the negativity, and lead with cautious optimism. You may find opportunities where others see only risk. U.S. and global macroeconomic indicators, such as the U.S. Purchasing Managers Index and the OECD Plus Non-Member Economies Leading Indicator are rising. Focus on trends that indicate stronger U.S. and global economies in 2017.

Stop Trying to Differentiate to Unleash Your Financial Performance
Dirk Beveridge, UnleashWD
Too often when distributors are looking for that edge or that competitive advantage, our first reaction is to focus on “differentiation.” In fact, my research shows that many distributors attach their definition of innovation to their company’s ability to differentiate itself in the marketplace. It’s important to rethink this. When differentiation is your focus, understand that you are focused on two entities: your own company and your competitors. What’s missing in this equation? Well, the customer is missing. Click here for discounted UnleashWD registration information for ASA members.More

Future Shock Becomes Job Shock
The Gordon Report
As the current state of the U.S. job market is a central focus of the Gordon Report, attached we present our extrapolation of figures from the U3 Unemployment Report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the A38 "Not in the Labor Force" data from the Current Population Survey of the Census Bureau. Our estimate of "Low Skilled, Weak Work Ethic, and Poorly Educated" people is derived from reports issues by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, and data from the National Assessment of Adult Literacy and the National Assessment of Educational Progress, both conducted by the U.S. Department of Education, and other sources. How to Recruit Top Supply Chain and Logistics Professionals
Industrial Distribution
The war for talent in the supply chain and logistics industry has reshaped strategies for hiring, recruiting, training and maintaining top talent management. Those supply chain leaders who attempt to hire from within the company only come to the realization they should have invested in mentoring and training programs years ago. It's now time to think of the future.More
