REMINDER: ASA Safety Award Nomination Deadline Extended

Just a reminder that the nomination deadline for ASA's 2012 Member Safety Recognition Awards, to be presented during NetworkASA 2013 in Washington, D.C., has been extended by a month. Nominations will be accepted through Monday, Sept. 2. Six awards will be presented — three in the distributor category and three in the manufacturer category — and all are based on number of safe hours worked in 2012. To help increase water efficiency in the commercial and institutional sector, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is announcing its intent to develop a WaterSense specification for flushometer-valve toilets. With this announcement, EPA is releasing a Notice of Intent that describes the efficiency and performance criteria WaterSense is considering including in a draft specification, as well as the technical issues that still need to be more fully defined and resolved.More

Industrial Production Flat in July

Industrial production was unchanged in July after having gained 0.2% in June, according to the Federal Reserve. Manufacturing production declined 0.1%. The output of mines advanced 2.1%, its fourth consecutive monthly increase, and the production of utilities fell 2.1%, its fourth consecutive monthly decrease. At 98.9% of its 2007 average, total industrial production in July was 1.4% above its year-earlier level.More
