Is Your Company Training Hitting the Mark?
American Supply Association
Sometimes, organizations do “training” just for the sake of doing training. It makes managers feel good that they are spending money to make their employees better. But does it have that desired impact OR are their employees rolling their eyes at a wasteful activity? ASA-U has many courses available to its members, but not all courses are applicable to all employees. With a little up-front work, ASA-U Advisory Service can help your organization customize the right learning content for the right audience in your organization. This unique service has already assisted members to get the most out of their training spend. Managers are trained to use straight-forward tools that assist them in tailoring course offerings to their employees. To learn more, click HERE.More

4000 Strong & Growing
American Supply Association
Doug Dillon (ASA) speaks with ASA member, Commercial Pipe & Supply, about some new and exciting things happening with ASA University.
Since 2011, ASA’s overall membership among all channel partners has grown 48.5% with the number of wholesaler-distributor members having increased by 13.5%. Today, ASA is proud to represent 319 PHCP-PVF wholesalers with 4,000 locations across the U.S. ASA continues to take steps to sustain this growth and further solidify its partnership with industry buying groups, including Affiliated Distributors. This week, staff participated in the conference appointment sessions at AD’s 2015 PHCP North American Meeting in Las Vegas for face-to-face meetings with members and new member prospects alike. "ASA enjoys a great partnership AD, and this meeting is a tremendous opportunity for us to showcase the association's accomplishments and new initiatives to more than 250 wholesalers and suppliers in just a few days," said Michael Adelizzi, ASA's Executive Vice President.

Long-Term View: Slower Growth, Robust Economic Activity & Ongoing Strength
ASA Advisor
The annual ASA Member Sales Index rose 4.2% over the past year (12MMA basis). Sales are trending toward the lower bound of the forecast range, but a revision to the forecast from ITR Economics is not necessary at this time. Sales are expected to finish 2015 as a whole 3.6% above last year (the lower bound of our range), followed by gains of 5.7% in 2016 and 4.8% in 2017. There is substantial downside risk to the forecast given the negativity present across the various regions. In the aggregate, ITR expects the Index to rise at a milder pace over the next two quarters, but ASA members will need to tailor their business strategies depending on the markets they serve. The 5 New Rules of Employee Engagement
It's the furtive glances as you approach, the crowd at the water cooler suddenly dispersing. Whispers and snickers during meetings. The staring at the floor as you pass in the hallway, the forced smiles. Is it all in your imagination? You might love your employees, or consider some of them friends--but you also wouldn't be doing your job if you didn't stop to wonder what they really think of you.

A Makeover for Manufacturers
Association of Talent Developers
According to a survey by SME, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the manufacturing industry, 80 percent of manufacturers are concerned about being unable to meet their workforce needs within the next five years. Yet as the talent shortage in the manufacturing industry grows more acute, millions of Millennials are preparing to enter the workforce. "Match up even a fraction of this group with manufacturers needing to fill open positions, and the skills gap is solved," says Jeannine Kunz, director of Tooling U-SME, which offers training and professional development solutions for manufacturers.More
