ASA to Participate in the 2018 USEHC Code Development Process

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) has released the 2016 Uniform Solar Energy and Hydronics Code (USEHC) monograph. The 2016 USEHC monograph is the first step (proposal stage) of the process to generate the 2018 edition of the USEHC. The USEHC is currently adopted in various jurisdictions throughout the United States and addresses hydronic and HVAC systems provisions such as circulating pumps, expansion tanks, ducts, and hydronic piping, tubing and fittings. The notice for the USEHC Technical Committee meeting has also been published and will be held on October 26, 2016 at the IAPMO Headquarters. The proposals for the 2018 USEHC may have some impact on the hydronics and HVAC industry. More

DOL to Offer Webinar for Small Businesses on Overtime Rules

On Monday, October 17 at 11:00 EST/10:00 CST, the Department of Labor's Wage & Hour Division in partnership with the Small Business Administration's Office of Advocacy will offer a webinar to cover the basics of the DoL's final rule updating the overtime regulations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), highlighting resources and guidance available for employers, and answer compliance assistance questions. Crackdown on Unpaid Duties

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Department of Homeland Security and the Treasury Department recently established interim rules aimed at collecting unpaid duties, estimated at $2.3 billion as of May, 2015, according to the U.S. Government Accountability Office. In a related development late-September, six domestic steel producers, including market giants U.S. Steel, Nucor, AK Steel and ArcelorMittal, along with California Steel Industries (CSI) and Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI), filed an anti-circumvention request with the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) saying Chinese cold-rolled and coated steel are being routed through Vietnam to avoid U.S. tariffs.
