ASA Materials Market Digest©
Hurricane Harvey’s impact on the petrochemical industry has sent most plastic resin prices higher as expected, but surprising is that the impact has been more subdued than expected. According to PetroChemWire, PVC resin prices did rise in October but not as much as suppliers had hoped for. Ethylene prices rose but did not skyrocket, and resin supplies recovered faster than expected after the storm. As a result, PVC pipe prices have remained basically stable and are expected to hold steady at least through Thanksgiving.
