ASA Reaches Net Membership Growth for First Time in Decades

From Oct. 4: After dealing with industry consolidation for over 10 years as well as one of the worst economies in more than half a century, the American Supply Association reached net membership growth in 2012. This is a milestone that has not been seen in decades. Third Quarter 2012 Tops Largest on Record

From Oct. 20: September 2012 finished the third quarter with an increase in work day revenues of 3.6% over 2011 which is the largest growth quarter since records have been kept. 3Q12 was 16.8% over 2010; an incredible 37.3% over 2009 and 31.9% over 2008. For American Supply Association members, there was a 6.5% increase reported in per day revenues as compared to the same month in 2011; up 20.5% as compared to 2010.More

Size Matters For ASA Distributor Members

From May 24: American Supply Association distributor members continue to show differing results based on their revenues. Smaller distributors, under $10 million in annual revenue, are still in a recession. Larger distributors, at over $125 million in annual revenue, are well into recovery. In the past 36 months, smaller distributors are still over 9% below the trailing 12-month revenues while larger distributors are back to pre-recession levels. Overall, April 2012 per day revenue, as compared to 2011, was up 9.5%; up 18% as compared to 2010; up 17.5% as compared to 2009 but down 2.3% vs. a very strong 2008. The plumbing, heating and pipe, valve and fitting distributors are also up 8.8% on a trailing 12-month basis. Geographically, all regional monthly revenue showed positive near double-digit growth with the south and west showing the strongest gains. In a relatively new trend, the previously red hot industrial pipe, valve and fitting segment is now at approximately the same growth rate as the plumbing and heating segment.More

Mitt Romney, a number of early indicators are revealing themselves. To begin, no candidate will win without a strong voter turnout, something the Romney team had come to expect following the level of partisanship that has arisen in the past four years.
