Infrastructure Plan Leaks, Favoring Water Infrastructure
American Supply Association
Early this week, as Washington was working to restore federal government operations, details leaked in the press regarding the White House’s plans for its various infrastructure initiatives. As discussed with ASA during our 2017 visit to the White House, they’re looking to push improvements through four paths: Incentivizing Co-investment, through state and local governments and Public Private Partnerships (P’3), which amounts to 50% of their budgeted request. Transformative projects, which encompass 10%, that will be considered innovative and groundbreaking, Rural Infrastructure, which’ll make up 25% and then various financing tools and federal credit programs will make up the remaining percentage of the pending appropriation request. You can read the full plan here.

Groups Form New Infrastructure Group
American Supply Association
ASA was recently recruited to join with others in a wide-ranging coalition pushing for the much needed investment of one of a region’s largest employers and contributor to the regional economy: the airport. Known as the “Beyond the Airport Coalition”, a wide variety of industry stakeholders seeks to ensure that airports remain strong economic engines and job centers in their local communities. Together, we are aligned in support for modernizing airport infrastructure financing to ensure our nation’s airports have the resources they need to remain competitive and thriving hubs of economic opportunity. America’s airports generate more than $1.1 trillion in annual activity and support more than 9.6 million jobs. The group will work to remove the outdated federal cap on the Passenger Facility Charge, protect the Airport Improvement Program and maintain the tax-exempt status of municipal bonds each of which creates more business for our members. Marijuana in the Workplace
SESCO Management
Since 2012, recreational marijuana laws have passed in eight states and Washington, D.C., but none of those laws allow residents to get high whenever and wherever they want, particularly not in the workplace. Every state that has passed a recreational marijuana law strictly regulates use of the drug by, for example, banning its use in public, regulating where it can be purchased and limiting how much can be grown at home. Importantly, no state law forces employers to tolerate on-the-job use.
