Hydronics Division Gearing Up for an Active Year
American Supply Association
The American Supply Association's newest division is gearing up for an active 2014. The Hydronics Division represents manufacturer and distributor interests in the radiant heat, residential tankless, condensing gas boilers and indirect water heating markets. During an active conference call conducted Feb. 27, the Executive Committee for the division discussed plans to become engaged in educating the industry in 2014 on topics such as emerging market trends, code and standards changes and opportunity for growth in this expanding market.

Industry Legend Seder Passes
Chicago Tribune
Industry legend Herschel Seder passed away March 1 at the age of 95. Seder purchased a small valve company in Milwaukee in 1959 with his friend and business partner, Max Koenigsberg. The two would run Milwaukee Valve together for 40 years, turning it into a world-class valve manufacturer. Seder will be remembered for his devotion to family, his company and the community.

With each passing day, announcements of PVF-laden projects coming across my desk, indicate that industrial activity should surpass all previous years, if not exceed the level of past decades. Much of this is emanating from the Midwest States, such as Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and North and South Dakota. Included in this accelerated growth, in addition to energy development, are such major end-use industries as pulp and paper, electrical power, and various aspects of technology, primarily in the Midwest.

US Manufacturing Hurt By Winter Weather
The Associated Press via Industrial Distribution
U.S. manufacturing expanded more quickly last month as companies received more orders and boosted their stockpiles. But a measure of production fell to its lowest level in nearly five years, likely a casualty of severe winter weather. The Institute for Supply Management, a group of purchasing managers, said that its manufacturing index rose to 53.2 in February from 51.3 in January. The increase only partly reversed a five-point drop in January from December.
