ASA Hires Hugo Aguilar as Director of Codes and Standards

The American Supply Association has announced the hiring of Mr. Hugo Aguilar to the role of Director of Codes and Standards. This new position will provide advocacy for the association in the code arena as well as educate members of the association and their employees on the codes process and changes that will impact the industry. Mr. Aguilar comes to this position with a strong technical background and extensive experience in the codes and standards process. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and has worked for the past five years as the Manager for Code Development Projects for the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials.

Senate Spending Bill Won't Include Rider to Block Overtime
Morning Consult
The Senate’s bill to provide funding for the Labor Department in fiscal year 2017 won’t include a rider to defund the agency’s recently finalized overtime pay rule. A Republican aide told Morning Consult that the Senate Appropriations subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies won’t contain a policy rider in the base text. However, the language could be introduced as an amendment.
