OSHA Revises Workplace Injury and Illness Recordkeeping Requirements
American Supply Association
Last week OSHA announced a final rule updating the notification process when a death or work-related hospitalization, loss of an eye or amputation occurs at the workplace. Under the revised rule, employers will be required to notify OSHA of work-related fatalities within eight hours and work-related in-patient hospitalizations, amputations, or loss of an eye within 24 hours. Previously, OSHA's regulations required an employer to report only work-related fatalities and in-patient hospitalizations of three or more employees. Reporting single hospitalizations, amputations or loss of an eye was not required under the previous rule. To learn more, click here.

NetworkASA, Better Year After Year
American Supply Association
After another successful NetworkASA, ASA has set the bar high for next year's annual convention in Chicago, Oct. 27-29. This year's event featured some big names along with industry experts making for a fantastic event at the luxurious Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. Those who were in attendance were able to enjoy Regis Philbin with his surprise guest Don Rickles, NFL's Jimmy Johnson and Seal Team Six's Robert O'Neill. All were entertaining as well as very informative and shed some light on the PHCP-PVF industry from a different perspective. ASA thanks everyone who was able to make it out this year, and stay tuned to see what we will have in store for next year in Chicago. See you then!

Disrupt Yourself
UnleashWD.jpg
Dirk Beveridge, founder of UnleashWD, recently participated in a national meeting for a holding company with nine operating distributors. He looked at the 130 leaders of those nine businesses and reminded them that their role as leaders is not to manage, but it is to support and make better. Dirk's response was, "This is an important message for distribution leaders, one that is at the very core of our UnleashWD Innovation Summit, you must think about the direction of moving from managing to supporting and making things better. We as individuals must change ourselves before we can expect that the business will change. Or in a few words, we must disrupt ourselves."

Industrial Distribution

As the customer is increasingly empowered and publicly vocal, product quality and safety have become tightly integrated with traceability and supplier scorecards. Bob Ferrari, a leading supply chain consultant, succinctly put it this way: "You never want to hear about the guys who run the supply chains for multinational companies. When you do, usually it means something really bad has happened."
