True to his nature, he never lost his upbeat, positive attitude. When asked how he was, Jim always would reply, "You know me. I've never had a bad day." Jim did not let his illness define him, instead he passionately promoted prostate cancer awareness. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim's name may be sent to The Four Diamonds Fund to help children battling cancer at: A120 P.O. Box 852, Hershey, PA 17033-0852. More

When asked in an informal poll at the conference which of the major transport modes will experience the fiercest pricing pressure next year, 44 percent of the respondents said "truckload" — by far the highest percentage of any of the modes. Shipper executives interviewed at the meeting said truck rate increases will be problematic for their businesses next year. More

Florida Sues to Block New Water-Quality Standards
Orlando Sentinel    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Florida's attorney general and agriculture commissioner announced they are suing the federal Environmental Protection Agency over water-quality standards the agency announced last month it intends to impose on the state's rivers, lakes and streams. Business groups have decried the federal nutrient standards, meant to limit the flow of pollutants into the waterways, and the state has spent the better part of the last decade trying to develop its own, more narrowly tailored standards. The EPA rules came about as the result of a lawsuit filed by environmental groups, who argued that Florida was not complying with the federal Clean Water Act. More
