ASA will be conducting a meeting of its CFO Networking Council on Friday, March 15, at the Omni Chicago Hotel. The council is a professional peer-networking group designed to engage CFOs and others in like positions within our industry, and allows participants to connect, network, stay informed and ahead of industry trends. At the event, Tom Noon, Principal and Founder of Industry Insights, will be presenting a session titled Don't Leave Profits on the Table – Key ASA OPR Trends and Usage Tips for Profit Improvement. Depending on your party, you can block your opposition's initiatives, or, in this case, you have the right to launch your own. Traditionally, bill numbers are introduced sequentially by the chronological order of introduction, save for numbers 1–10. Those are reserved for the Speaker of the House, who announced on Tuesday that H.R. 1 will be introduced to reform the tax code. More

Copper Recovers from Italy Vote on Bernanke, US Data

Copper edged up Tuesday as upbeat U.S. housing and consumer confidence data offset worries about a deadlocked Italian vote, and as investors were relieved to hear the Federal Reserve defend its ultra-loose monetary policy. Benchmark three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange ended up 0.30% at $7,858.50 a tonne, bringing losses for the year to just under 1%. The metal earlier hit a two-month low of $7,785 a tonne. Manufacturing Stumbles But Seen Regaining Footing

Manufacturing got off to a weak start this year as motor vehicle output tumbled in January, but a rebound in factory activity in New York state this month suggested any setback would be temporary. In a further sign the sluggish economic recovery remains on track, consumers were a bit more upbeat early this month even as they paid more for gasoline and saw an increase in taxes reduce their paychecks, other recent data showed. More
