ASA Tackles Industry Workforce Need
American Supply Association
Last year, the ASA Education Foundation sponsored a workforce study to get the facts on the realities of our aging workforce and the challenges ahead. I don’t think anyone was surprised to find out the industry is in desperate need of qualified employees in order to sustain business going forward. But to see the stats in black and white is surely a wake-up call for all of us. The American Supply Association is working on many levels to help attract new and younger employees into this industry. Through a massive career initiative, ASA is reaching out to high schools, technical schools, colleges and military veterans to market, inform and attract new workers into our industry. And with a specific focus on capturing the attention of women, ASA formed the ASA Women in Industry Division about three years ago.

These Kids Have Skill
American Supply Association
For the third straight year, ASA is proud to have sponsored PHCC’s plumbing competition at SkillsUSA in Louisville, Kentucky. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industries working together to ensure our country has a skilled workforce through competitions that support career and technical education. Several ASA members contribute to this program by providing materials and prizes. ASA’s workforce development initiative starts at the top of the supply chain and works itself all the way down to the workers that use member products every day. These contractors are crucial to a strong and profitable in industry.

The Importance of Employee Development
Entrepreneur
Many entrepreneurs seem to view employee training and development as more optional than essential ... a viewpoint that can be costly to both short-term profits and long-term progress. The primary reason training is considered optional by so many business owners is because it's viewed more as an expense than an investment.
