Distributor Sales Expected to Finish Year 4.9% Ahead of 2015
American Supply Association
Sales for ASA members climbed 3.6 percent in July, 2016, over the same month last year. This growth rate was toward the lower bound of the forecast range, according to the latest installment of the ASA Advisor© from ITR Economics™. However, after examining the macroeconomic and construction leading indicators, analysts determined a forecast revision was not necessary. Sales will likely trend toward the lower bound of the forecast range for the duration of 2016, finishing the year 4.9 percent ahead of 2015. Both residential and nonresidential construction tied to the U.S. consumer will provide opportunities for ASA members in home improvement and new home construction. Nationally, office building construction remains a strong growth area, and commercial construction tied to retail, restaurants and hotels will also do well into 2017.
