The Washington Post    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
President Barack Obama approved a final spurt of spending to shore up the sluggish recovery, signing into law a $26 billion plan to save the jobs of thousands of teachers and other government workers. The measure brings total direct federal spending on the economy to nearly $1.2 trillion since the nation descended into recession in late 2007. With economic growth faltering and unemployment stuck at 9.5 percent, some economists are urging additional action. More

Two key components of the index, employment and prices paid, rose in July. The month also marked the 12th consecutive month manufacturing activity has expanded. Readings above 50 indicate an expansion; under 50, a contraction. More

American Supply Association    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Last week, ASA received word that Majority Leader Harry Reid has decided to delay a Senate vote on the energy bill until after Labor Day. In addition to WaterSense/Home Star, other provisions in the bill would promote electric and natural gas vehicles, and ensure that BP pays for all costs related to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. As of today, he lacks the necessary 60 votes to overcome GOP objections to the oil spill provisions; however, the WaterSense/Home Star section of the bill is still in good shape. More

ASA welcomes Watts Water Technologies as an ASA Supplier Partner at the Bronze level. An ASA Supplier Partnership offers a more expanded level of visibility to companies than a traditional sponsorship program. With ASA Supplier Partners receiving recognition at all ASA-produced events, companies are promoted to a wider market segment than at a single event. "Watts is pleased to be associated as an ASA Supplier Partner. Watts has had a long relationship with ASA, and we look to continue our relationship for years to come," said David Johnson, senior vice president of sales wholesale. Watts Water Technologies is a manufacturer of valves and related products that promote the comfort and safety of people and the quality, conservation and control of water used in commercial, residential, industrial and municipal applications.
