ASA Releases Congressional Scorecards for 114th Congress
American Supply Association
If it’s back-to-school time, then soon enough, report cards will be arriving in the mail. Trade associations like the American Supply Association (ASA) keep score or grade how elected officials vote in Washington. This should come as little surprise to members of Congress. In fact, many groups will use this method of keeping score as leverage when encouraging them to take a position for or against a particular piece of legislation. Knowing that a major business group intends to “score this vote”, is one way to make them think twice before casting their vote.

ASA to Launch Aggressive Campaign to Attract Students to PHCP-PVF Industry
American Supply Association
Highly motivated by last year’s national labor study that predicted the staggering loss of 50,000 current industry employees over the next ten years, the American Supply Association (ASA) is launching an aggressive national campaign to attract the nation’s secondary and post-secondary students to the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling-Piping (PHCP) and industrial Pipe-Valve-Fitting (PVF) industry. On September 7, ASA will launch a multi-tiered campaign to nearly 40,000 high school, college and technical schools seeking opportunities to address students about the wide range of career opportunities that exist throughout the PHCP and PVF industry.

Colorado WaterSense Law in Effect
American Supply Association
In 2014, the Colorado General Assembly passed Senate Bill 14-103 (SB103), which requires that by September 1, 2016 manufacturers of certain types of indoor plumbing fixtures sell only WaterSense labeled products to distributors, wholesalers, retailers, developers and homebuilders in the State of Colorado. The law applies to direct purchases or purchase orders made on or after September 1, 2016. It does not apply to delivery or installation dates. The goal of this legislation is to reduce water use in Colorado where the population is growing rapidly and water supplies are spread increasingly thin.

Stop Trying to Differentiate to Unleash Your Financial Performance
Dirk Beveridge, UnleashWD
Too often when distributors are looking for that edge or that competitive advantage, our first reaction is to focus on “differentiation.” In fact, my research shows that many distributors attach their definition of innovation to their company’s ability to differentiate itself in the marketplace. It’s important to rethink this. When differentiation is your focus, understand that you are focused on two entities: your own company and your competitors. What’s missing in this equation? Well, the customer is missing. Click here for discounted UnleashWD registration information for ASA members.
