Our Relevancy is not Guaranteed
UnleashWD
Our market does not care how long you have owned your business, how large it is, if it's big and strong or if it is a public, private or employee-owned company. As a CEO said, "We have to recognize they want our piece. Customers are not going to pay more, wait longer, or sacrifice service levels to do business with us." Relevancy needs to be explored throughout the distribution industry, and it's time to collaborate with fellow like-minded industry leaders under one roof to Lift and Shift™ ourselves into a time of relevancy. Speaking of time, early bird registration for UnleashWD's summit ends tomorrow. The NAW Institute for Distribution Excellence and Dirk Beveridge conducted their very own industry research and found 81% of those surveyed believe that our industry is operating from outdated business models. And The Innovative Distributor™ white paper provides an in depth model of how to be successful during disruptive times.

Pitfalls in logistics partnerships
By Ken Ackerman
Four decades have passed since a logistics magazine published an article about how the relationship between the public warehouse operator and the customer should be one of partnerships. In the next issue of the magazine, a letter to the editor contained an angry response for the author, a logistics service provider. The writer of the letter was a manufacturing executive who was also former editor of the magazine. His attack ended with these words: "The public warehouseman is no more in partnership with his customer than a corpse is in partnership with the mortician." Have we made any progress in the last 40 years?
