The Alliance and Automotive Service Association    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Unconvinced of the necessity of the so-called "Right to Repair" legislation, the New Jersey legislature has once again deferred action on the bill. This marks yet another year in which, despite spending significant resources, supporters of the legislation have failed to gain its passage. Joining in opposition to the legislation this year were nearly a dozen local unions, which expressed concern about the legislation's potential impact on safety, jobs and the economy. More

Absence of U.S. cars from Japanese 'clunker' program irks lawmaker
The Washington Post    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
When U.S. Rep. Betty Sutton, D-Ohio, proposed the "Cash for Clunkers" program to bolster the U.S. auto industry last year, she limited the government purchase incentives to cars produced in North America. The Detroit Free Press    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The 2010 Santa Fe crossover Hyundai this week is the latest of seven new models slated to come to market over the next 24 months designed to sustain the South Korean automaker’s recession-defying growth in the U.S. Hyundai raised its U.S. sales by 8 percent last year amidst the weakest new vehicle market in about three decades. It expanded its market share to 4.2 percent from 3.0 percent in 2008, partially through its Hyundai Assurance program that allowed buyers to return their vehicles with no penalty if they lost their jobs.
