National Motor Vehicle Title Information System Available to Public from Automotive Service Association
The National Motor Vehicle Title Information System will be implemented by Jan. 30, 2009, providing a national database of vehicles compiled from state, salvage and insurer reporting. It will require insurance companies and salvage yards to report vehicles that are severely damaged or totaled, and consumers will have access to such information as odometer readings and theft records. Data is predicted to be more comprehensive, up-to-date and less expensive than some private sector reports. More
Ford Launching Dual-clutch Transmission in U.S. from The Detroit News Ford Motor Co. will announce at the 2009 Automotive News World Congress that it plans to begin using dual-clutch six-speed transmissions on its small cars in North America beginning next year. The high-tech gear shifter, known as the PowerShift transmission, can help reduce weight in the car, improve fuel economy and enhance the driving experience with faster, smoother shifts. More
