No one needs to tell you that getting and keeping patients is a critical factor in your business success. You already know this, of course, but what you may not know is that each client you snag is worth between $10,000 and $45,000 over a 20-year span. Multiply that by three to five in the case of a family, and the numbers really add up. That means it's not only crucial to find new patients, but you've got to keep them as well. All too often, no one can take the slot, leaving a gaping hole in your schedule that hurts both practice production and your bottom line.

Simon Fraser University researchers have found that high-resolution brain scans, coupled with computational analysis, could play a critical role in helping to detect concussions that conventional scans might miss. In a study published in PLOS Computational Biology, Vasily Vakorin and Sam Doesburg show how magnetoencephalography, which maps interactions between regions of the brain, could detect greater levels of neural changes than typical clinical imaging tools such as MRI or CT scans.

A traumatic brain injury may be linked to a young adult's higher chances of ending up in jail, a new Canadian study suggests. A research team analyzed data gathered from nearly 1.4 million Canadians, aged 18 to 28, from 1997 through 2011. This age group was chosen because it has an increased risk of severe brain injury and involvement in the criminal justice system, the researchers said.
