The Atlanta Journal-Constitution    Share   Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The fractious debate over health care has obscured the promise this bold legislation has to reduce health disparities in the United States. Kansas City Star Midwest Voices    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
In 1978, I applied to Kansas City law firms for employment, columnist M. Theresa Hupp writes. The hiring partner at one firm made me an offer. "We think it's about time we hired a woman lawyer," he said. The hiring partner at another firm rejected me because "we already hired our woman for the year." Those conversations taught me the good, the bad and the ugly of affirmative action. More
