As health care delivery reshapes, hospitals are using new and creative ways to engage with physicians to create a more integrated and seamless care system. Jim Burke, MD, senior vice president and chief physician executive, and Charles Finch, DO, FACOEP, chief academic officer, Scottsdale Healthcare, will share their efforts to use continuing medical education (CME) offerings to align physicians across the health care system and to drive performance improvement.

Work policies that support LGBT community are good for business

A new study confirms what many in the gay and lesbian community have said for some time: LGBT-supportive policies are linked to positive business outcomes. The study from the Williams Institute examined 33 research studies and concluded that policies that support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals lead to greater job commitment, improved workplace relationships, increased job satisfaction and better health outcomes among LGBT employees.

Feds clueless on how new I-9 rules work

If you are confused about the new I9 form and rules, take heart. The Feds are too. A few months ago, U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services released a new version of Form I-9 with the mandate that electronically pre-populating (or auto-filling) Section 1 would no longer be permitted as of May 7. They also instituted penalties between $110 and $1,100 per non-compliant form. What they failed to do is determine what the new rules mean, and they have left many with the false impression that the rules have been rescinded.
