Making the Commitment – the Marriage Between Diversity & Affirmative Action

Obama says Health Care Overhaul Should be 'Uniquely American'

President Barack Obama said his proposed overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system should draw the best from government programs and the private sector, and he defended his effort to hold down costs. "We need to come up with something that is uniquely American," Obama said. "If we are smart, we should be able to design a system in which people still have choices" and in which "necessary treatment is provided, but we don’t have a huge amount of waste in the system." Employment Discrimination Against LGBT Workers Shows Need for Employment Non-Discrimination Act

Although employment laws intended to protect people from workplace discrimination based on their sexual orientation and gender identity are on the books in local communities and states around the country, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation reports that more than 3 in 5 U.S. citizens live in areas that do not have these laws.
