Aurora Health Care accused of job discrimination

A federal agency has filed a lawsuit in Milwaukee accusing Aurora Health Care of rescinding job offers to two applicants after finding out they had disabilities. The EEOC says Aurora offered jobs to two women, both of whom disclosed health conditions during their medical exams. One has multiple sclerosis and the other has carpal tunnel disorder. An agency statement says Aurora contends that the applicants had failed to disclose their health conditions. More

Age discrimination? Survey of hiring managers offers surprise

Almost one half of unemployed boomers have said age discrimination "was a barrier in getting a new job," according to an AARP study. But hiring managers beg to differ: They say they are three times more likely to hire someone age 50 and up than a millennial, a person in their early 30s and younger, according to a new survey by Adecco. Judging from a recent survey, many HR departments will be undergoing some major structural changes fairly soon. Towers Watson's 15th annual HR Service Delivery Survey finds that 44 percent of the 600 global companies polled plan to change their HR structure this year or in 2013 — a big jump from the 26 percent who said this in last year's survey.
