The regulation role of interferon regulatory factor-1 gene and clinical relevance
Human Immunology
IRF-1, a kind of transcription factors, is expressed constitutively in all cells types except early embryonal cells. By virtue of its interaction with specific DNA sequence, IRF-1 regulates the transcription of a set of target genes which play essential roles in various physiological and pathological processes, including viral infection, tumor immune surveillance, pro-inflammatory injury and development of the immune system. What’s more, IRF-1 also interacts with other transcription factors to regulate the specific genes transcription in the nucleus.

Single-nucleotide polymorphism associations in common with immune responses to measles and rubella vaccines
Single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in candidate immune response genes were evaluated for associations with measles- and rubella-specific neutralizing antibodies, interferon (IFN)-γ and interleukin-6 secretion in two separate association analyses in a cohort of healthy immunized subjects. Scientists identified six SNP associations shared between the measles-specific and rubella-specific immune responses, specifically neutralizing antibody titers, secreted IL-6 and secreted IFN-γ.

Innate immune cell collaborations instigate transplant tolerance
American Journal of Transplantation
This editorial provides commentary on Hongo et al's demonstration that transplant tolerance induction after recipient conditioning with total lymphoid irradiation, antithymocyte serum and donor bone marrow transplantation requires arginase-1–expressing myeloid-derived suppressor cells that are generated in response to invariant natural killer T cell interleukin-4 production.
