New Avenue to Promote Arizona Wine
By Peggy Fiandaca
President, Arizona Wine Growers Association; Owner, Lawrence Dunham Vineyards

It's my pleasure to announce our partnership with CITYSunTimes (CST) and my dear friend, Publisher Hope H. Ozer. I was asked and jumped at the opportunity to write a monthly column promoting Arizona wines, starting with their March edition. In 300 words or less, I hope to educate, communicate and entice readers to explore Arizona wine country and choose Arizona wines.

Arizona Legislative Report
Dorn Policy Group Inc. via Arizona Wine Growers Association
The fourth week of legislative session has been quite busy as many key deadlines are either rapidly approaching or past due. The last day to introduce a bill in the Senate was Monday, Feb.4, and in the House, Monday, Feb. 11. However, the use of strikers lends some flexibility to the process. Though the legislative agenda has largely been set, it is not uncommon for unexpected developments to appear midsession. Budget negotiations have continued to progress, with small group meetings being held among leadership and members in both houses.

AWGA Wineries Poured Wines at the County Supervisors Association
Arizona Wine Growers Association
Local wineries recently poured wines at the CSA Legislative Reception. "We are pleased to report it was once again a huge success," said Penny Adams from the CSA. "It was very well-attended by both county supervisors and state legislators. With so many new members, both with the counties and the state legislature, we were very pleased with the turnout. The reception has become a great signature event to provide the perfect forum for legislators to mingle with the county supervisors to socialize and discuss current issues. Having the AWGA provide tastings of Arizona local wines is greatly appreciated by our members. We hope to continue to provide opportunities for the Arizona Wine Growers Association to help the counties host events and we look forward to those opportunities."

App Becomes Market Leader for American Wineries and Wine Trails
WineAmerica
America's Wine Trails recently partnered with two of the largest names in the wine industry, Wines & Vines and WineAmerica, to launch the most comprehensive winery app for today's mobile consumer. According to Vince Manzer, Arizona is among the top five for "hits." The free app showcases more than 6,000 wineries and 270 wine trails in the U.S.

"Our goal is connecting people with wineries. Our mission is to promote local wine in all regions of the country," Manzer said. "Providing mobile access to thousands of wineries across North America is one way to do it. We know this is a great way to reach millions of wine consumers in an environment where they are most engaged: their smartphones."
