Pentagon opening more posts to women short of ground-combat role

The U.S. military plans to open more support jobs for women closer to the front lines while continuing to bar them from direct ground-combat roles. More than 13,000 positions would be opened by eliminating a rule barring women from support jobs alongside ground-combat units. Congress will have 30 days to block the policy before it goes into effect. More



Social media: Privacy, security concerns persist

A new survey shows that privacy and security concerns persist for many Facebook users, despite recent efforts to address those concerns. Privacy and security top the list of concerns, according to the findings of the Social Media Habits and Privacy Concerns Survey. Twenty-eight percent of respondents expressed some level of discomfort about privacy protections. And among those who eschew social media sites, 73 percent cited privacy concerns as their reason for not participating. More

The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation is pleased to announce Angela Kinsey, of the Emmy Award-winning show "The Office," will serve as Host of the 37th Annual Gracie Awards Gala on May 22 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The Gracie Awards recognize exemplary programming created for women, by women and about women in all facets of media, including radio, television, cable and digital media. The awards program also encourages the realistic and multifaceted portrayal of women in entertainment, news, features and other programs. Kinsey portrays the feisty, tightly-wound head of accounting Angela Martin at Dunder Mifflin on NBC's Emmy-winning show "The Office." More

The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation proudly announces that Ford Motor Company Fund, the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company, is continuing its support of Empowering America, a public service campaign that profiles inspiring women who have pioneered in fields such as science, social reform, public service, sports, journalism, music and aviation. The Empowering America program also includes a student scholarship.
