Last Tuesday, Hollywood's stars shone a little brighter as the Alliance for Women in Media descended upon the historic Beverly Hilton Hotel in Hollywood, for the 36th Annual Gracie Awards. 2011 National Gracie Award winners were honored in a star-studded gala hosted by Emmy Award-winning actress Patricia Heaton. Emmy Award-winning journalist and weekend co-anchor and correspondent for Access Hollywood Shaun Robinson was honored with the 2011 Dove Real Beauty Award. More



Oprah's finale scores biggest rating in 17 years

Now this is going out in style: The final episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show delivered the program's highest overnight rating in 17 years. Oprah had a 13.3 household rating, that's up about 130 percent from her average rating. It's also the biggest since a 1994 episode. More

Women working in the federal government are no longer victims of overt discrimination, but are still paid less than men in similar jobs and are less likely to become supervisors, a new report says. "The vision of a workforce in which women are fully represented and utilized has not been wholly achieved," concluded the report, released by the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board. More

US broadcast retransmission fees could reach $3.61 billion in 2017

Steady increases in the monthly fees paid by pay-TV platforms to TV stations could drive overall U.S. broadcast retransmission fees to $3.61 billion in 2017 from $1.14 billion in 2010, reports SNL Kagan. SNL Kagan notes that retrans revenues disclosed by public companies rose from $631 million in 2009 to $766 million in 2010. For pure-play TV station owners analyzed, the revenue stream was equal to 52 percent of their cash flow on average in 2010, rising to as much as 76 percent of cash flow. More

Key 18 to 49 demo watching less TV

For the second year in a row, television viewership of 18 to 49 year olds (on traditional TV sets) dropped over the course of the TV season, despite the recent high ratings for show finales including "American Idol" and "Oprah." According to Nielsen, the overall TV audience grew 1.5 percent over the past year to about 61.3 million people, but numbers for the younger demographic are down. More
