Gayle King voices latest PSA from AWM and Dove Self-Esteem Fund

Alliance for Women in Media has partnered with Dove, the global beauty brand, since in 2004. In 2009, the two organizations worked together to launch a new radio public service announcement (PSA) campaign to inspire parents and mentors to help girls to reach their full potential. The newest PSA is voiced by Oprah Radio host Gayle King and available for download here. The previous two PSAs by CBS News Anchor Katie Couric and film and television star Amy Poehler are also available. More



Casting director Peggy Kennedy dies

Emmy-winning casting director Peggy Kennedy died last Friday only a week after being diagnosed with cancer. She started off as a talent agent and segued into casting as associate on "Reservoir Dogs," "L.A. Law" and "Chicago Hope" before joining Debi Manwiller as a casting director on "Level 9," "Wolf Lake," "24" and, most recently, "Human Target." In 2004, the two won an Emmy for their work on "24." The TV equivalent is weekday mornings at 7 a.m. on CBS. CBS announced that Erica Hill and Chris Wragge will take over as anchors of the "The Early Show" for Harry Smith and Maggie Rodriguez. FCC adds Internet regulation to agenda

As expected and despite protestations from Congressional Republicans, the Federal Communications Commission has officially added Internet traffic regulation to its agenda. The monthly agenda calls for the commission to consider "an order adopting basic rules of the road to preserve the open Internet as a platform for innovation, investment, competition and free expression." The FCC has been trying to tackle what has become known as "net neutrality," since earlier this year when a federal court ruled that the FCC lacked the authority to regulate the Internet. More

Ad revenues on mobile devices are set to soar over the next five years as smartphones spread and consumer attachment only grows. BIA/Kelsey projects that revenues came in at $491 million last year, and are headed toward $2.9 billion in 2014. The projections include ad dollars generated from advertising attached to search queries, display advertising and messages slotted into text messaging. More

A new survey with 2,500 local TV news viewers in Hearst Television markets finds local television news more effective in engaging viewers' attention to advertising than most TV program genres and competitive television media. The local TV news viewers were defined as those who watch local TV news twice or more per week. The largest number of respondents cited local TV newscasts as being the most effective medium for delivering awareness of products and services advertised during the programming. More
