Constructech    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article

Electrical contractor Rosendin Electric, San Jose, Calif., has deployed a fleet of all-electric forklifts in its Bay Area warehouses. These slick new forklifts will replace the propane-powered ones that Rosendin had used in the supply yards of both its San Jose headquarters and its San Francisco location. More

Environmental justice advocates hail EPA rule providing more oversight of hazardous waste recycling
Greenwire via The New York Times    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Green groups are cheering a proposed rule released by the U.S. EPA that they hope will close a dangerous hazardous waste recycling loophole created in the waning days of the George W. Bush administration. But environmental justice advocates are especially excited about the proposal because of the unprecedented level of attention it gives to understanding the health impacts the 2008 rule was having on low income and minority communities. Environmental justice experts say the proposal has set a new standard for how environmental justice issues can be factored into the rulemaking process. More

Construction employment remained mired in a five-year-long slump as the industry shed another 9,000 jobs from May to June, according to an analysis of new federal employment data released by the Associated General Contractors of America. Association officials said that declines in public sector construction activity will negate any pickup in private sector demand unless Congress and states promptly and fully fund needed infrastructure spending and streamline the approval process for public projects. Are you using the latest DOT drug and alcohol testing forms?
J. J. Keller & Associates    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Every step of the U.S. Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing process is highly regulated, right down to the paperwork needed to document the tests. Motor carriers or their service agents who use an expired form, a modified form or a non-DOT form to conduct their DOT-regulated drug or alcohol tests could be subject to enforcement actions, including fines and other penalties. Even if you use a third party to run your testing program for you, you are not immune to those penalties. More
