In Memoriam: Remembering friend Gary Bedian

We were sad to hear of the passing last Wednesday, of hospitality industry colleague, Gary H. Bedian. Gary was an international commercial real estate developer and hospitality asset manager. He spent more than 26 years structuring multimillion dollar transactions, many of which were in the hospitality industry. Specializing in international business diplomacy, he was an ambassador of goodwill in both business and in the civic arena. Gary founded redRelif — which provided 11th Hour Asset Staging and Management — as well as Rest Magazine, a boutique hotel and lifestyle publication. In 1992, Gary received the appointment as Vice-Minister of Industry & Trade and Chief adviser for the Republic of Armenia. He also co-founded the Armenian American Chamber of Commerce, the 1st chamber for a former Soviet Republic. Gary is survived by his wife of more than 30 years, Helen, and their children, Christopher and Tro. Gary will be missed by all of his colleagues and friends in the industry.

Hyatt Hotels and Resorts is adding to its Andaz brand this summer, converting two Avia hotels — one in Napa, Calif., and another in Savannah, Ga. — to the group, and opening a new hotel in Amsterdam soon after.
