The Setai South Beach taken over by Owners — Established in 1992, Singapore-based management company, General Hotel Management has created some of the world's most highly regarded intimate luxury resorts and hotels from their home base in Asia, including The Setai South Beach. At 2:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 31, owner representatives of The Setai South Beach arrived at the hotel and informed GHM they were taking over the property. According to Hans R. Jenni, President and Director of GHM, "Representatives from Lehman Brothers arrived at the hotel with armed guards and off duty sheriff officers in uniform in the early morning hours on March 31." Marriott International may sell its three Edition properties to fund an expansion of the boutique, luxury brand, incoming Chief Executive Officer Arne Sorenson said. The Edition brand is Marriott International's attempt to break into the boutique segment in which Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide's W chain operates. Marriott would continue to operate the Edition properties after they are sold, Sorenson said.

Sofitel Luxury Hotels has partnered with TV5MONDE, a French-language network broadcasting in the United States, to create a new channel called Tivi5MONDE, a French language children's channel.
