8. Housing a concern, but those fearing crash in for 'pleasant surprise'

From May 8, 2013: Canada's housing market remains a concern, but doomsayers fearing a crash are in for a "pleasant surprise," Bank of Nova Scotia says in a new forecast. "We expect a GDP negative contraction in housing but not a collapse as interest rates are expected to remain low and immigration trends supportive," currency strategists Camilla Sutton and Eric Theoret said.

7. Brampton divided on how to legalize basement suites

From June 5, 2013: Four families, three generations in one house. To be more specific: two brothers, their mother, their wives and collective group of three children. They occupy the main floor and five bedrooms on the second floor of the house. Down in the basement is a cousin, his wife and their child. It's an extreme example, but this is becoming the norm in Brampton.

4. Homeowners who get cold feet about selling are liable for agreed commission

From June 26, 2013: When you first listed your home for sale, you likely signed a listing agreement with the brokerage. This is a legal document and it should detail how much commission is to be paid. It should also outline whether that commission is still owed if you choose to not go through with the sale.

1. Brampton councillors approve controversial townhouse plan

From April 24, 2013: A Brampton council meeting to decide the future of a controversial townhouse development was halted as security had to rush in to calm the raucous crowd while councillors rushed out of the chamber. Eventually, they came back after many in the capacity crowd left or were escorted out.
