    Agent alleges discrimination by client
    Real Estate Magazine
Rick Allenberg, a white sales rep with Fair Realty in Victoria, has filed a complaint with the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal alleging his black client broke a contract with him over race and country of origin. Dr. Roger Johnson, which tribunal documents show "identifies as a gay, multi-racial, black person," decided to break his contract with Allenberg, in part because he suspects Allenberg "is a racist, white South African."

Will you make more sales if you upgrade your car?
    Mortgage Broker News
While a sleek Mercedes and a gold watch were once the hallmarks of a successful real estate agent, some experienced agents think that flashy image is doing damage to the reputation of the entire profession. But appearances are still key, with a well-kempt agent — most often in a suit — the industry's standard bearer.

How to invest in Canadian real estate
    Financial Post
Canadian REITs now have the best risk-adjusted returns as they have lagged their U.S. peers, says Andy Nasr, portfolio manager of the Middlefield Real Estate Class. Part of his optimism stems from the unique nature of Canada's market, as approximately 50 per cent of the population lives in just six cities. "You have a tremendous amount of concentration, which means good real estate is really hard to come by," Nasr said. "If you're looking at a good office building or retail strip, there's scarcity value there."

Toronto real estate: In the depths of a twitchy market
    The Globe and Mail
Toronto’s real estate market has remained twitchy through October as buyers seem willing to wrestle for some properties but not others. The shifting dynamic means some move-up buyers are considering taking the bold move of selling their existing house — even before they've got the new one lined up. Conventional wisdom throughout the sellers' market of recent years has been that move-up buyers should have a place to move to or risk being caught with no place to go. This trap has been part of the reason the inventory of listings has remained tight for years.
