Notice of BREB's General Election Meeting

In accordance with BREB's By-Law, Article 5, Section 2, the Board of Directors of the Brampton Real Estate Board have called a General Election Meeting scheduled for Tuesday Dec. 16, 2014 for the purpose of the following:

• Proposed By-Law Revisions
• Member vote for the 2015/2016 Board of Directors

The meeting will be held at the Brampton Real Estate Board located at 60 Gillingham Drive, Suite 401 Brampton, ON. A full hot breakfast will be available from 8:45 am; the meeting will commence at 10:00 am sharp. Your cooperation in confirming your attendance as soon as possible to the Board office at (905) 791-9913 or support@breb.org would be most appreciated.

BREB has several Committees, Councils and Task Forces looking for motivated Members with new ideas and a commitment to ensure the strength and positive direction within the Board. Toronto Real Estate Board President Paul Etherington announced that Greater Toronto Area REALTORS® reported 8,552 sales through the TorontoMLS system in October 2014. Real Estate Council of Ontario survey finds many home buyers and sellers have more to learn about the real estate process

A new survey by the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) reveals 41 per cent of Ontario homeowners and 45 per cent of first-time homebuyers wish they had done something differently when buying or selling their home. "Buying or selling a home can seem confusing and stressful to many — but there are steps everyone can take to make the process easier, and more satisfying, including brushing up on the basics, doing some homework, asking the right questions, and working with a registered real estate professional," says RECO Registrar Joseph Richer.

2014 CMHC First-Time Homebuyers Survey

Today's generation of first-time homebuyers are increasingly using the Internet to their advantage when researching mortgages. CMHC's recently released 2014 First-Time Homebuyers Survey backs that up. The report found that 84 per cent of first-time buyers went online to gather information about mortgage options and features. The figure was 76 per cent for repeat mortgage consumers.

Canadian housing outlook declines in October

The trend measure of housing starts in Canada was 195,707 units in October compared to 197,763 in September, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). The trend is a six-month moving average of the monthly seasonally adjusted annual rates (SAAR)1 of housing starts.
