Volunteers are the heart of any not-for-profit organization
BREB
BREB continues to promote the importance of leadership and volunteer awareness. BREB has several Committees, Councils and Task Forces looking for motivated Members with new ideas and a commitment to ensure the strength and positive direction within the Board. As a BREB Volunteer, you will be required to attend meetings as scheduled. In accordance with BREB's Policy & Procedure Manual, all Board Volunteers are required to complete the OREA Leadership 100 online course (free), within thirty (30) days of their first Committee Meeting. Don't miss the opportunity to get involved and make a difference by serving on one of the many BREB Committees, Councils and Task Forces.

Do open houses still work?

Today many new real estate agents question whether hosting open houses is an effective sales strategy. A recent industry analysis suggested open houses only account for five per cent of sales and instead just attract the neighbours and "lookie-loos" out for some free weekend entertainment. I have never read a legitimate study proving how many houses are sold in Canada as the result of hosting an open house, but in my personal experience they are still on my "to do" list as an agent.

Ontario looking at e-signatures for real estate deals

Just sign on the dotted line — via email or text. The Ontario government is looking at allowing electronic signatures for real estate transactions. "It's often the most important transaction that people are doing — (but) a lot of times they're busy at work or they don't live in the same city," Attorney General Madeleine Meilleur said recently at Queen's Park.

Study: Ontario's investment-fund industry booming

Ontario's investment-funds industry has ballooned into one of the province's biggest businesses, employing more than 44,000 people and generating $2.8 billion in tax revenues, a new Conference Board of Canada study has found. In a recent report, the think-tank concluded that over the past decade, the value of mutual funds and exchange-traded fund assets in Ontario has grown by 90 per cent to $489 billion.
