    On Oct. 15, nearly 100 maintenance professionals representing over 15 Owner/Management companies and their onsite and corporate staff will be in attendance when CAA hosts our annual Maintenance Mania Competition & Solutions Conference. Will you and your team be there?

    What is Maintenance Mania? It's a timed, skill-based competition developed to recognize and celebrate hard-working apartment maintenance professionals. This program allows maintenance staff to show off their expert skills and knowledge, and meet their peers from throughout Chicagoland. There are CASH PRIZES and the chance to win an all-expense-paid trip to the Maintenance Mania National Championships at NAA's national convention.

    Rent for 1 bedroom apartments in Chicago up more than 11 percent over 2014

    Chicago may not be the most expensive city for apartment rentals, but a new study shows that renters of one-bedroom apartments are paying a lot more this year than they were last year. A study by rental website Zumper shows that the median rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Chicago rose 11.6 percent over the last year. The median rental price now sits at $1,920, according to Zumper.

    In demand: Top cities for multi-family rentals

    The demand for rental housing is increasing nationwide, with more and more people turning to renting in America's largest cities. A combination of factors — including limited inventory levels, declining vacancy rates and continued job growth — have pushed rental prices up by 6.5 percent over the past year, to reach a record high of $1,155 in July 2015.

    How much money do you need to make rent in Chicago?

    Consider this: An average one-bedroom apartment in the Chicago metropolitan area runs about $922 monthly. That means a renter — or several renters combined — would need to earn $17.73 hourly to afford a one-bedroom apartment in the city and suburbs, according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition report called "Out of Reach."
