On June 1, 2015, the respective Boards of Directors of the PMA and A4WP approved the A4WP PMA Merger Agreement. The purpose of the Merged Organization is to support the common interests of members, consumers and developers of wireless power transfer technology products and services. Together, we are over 170 member companies strong committed to developing superior technology, bridging two core wireless charging technologies. Formal integration of the two orgs is targeted to start early July and will be implemented not to detract from ongoing progress and associated timetable.
A4WP President, Dr. Kamil Grajski, and PMA President, Ron Resnick, will remain in executive positions as Chairman and President of the Merged Organization, respectively. The new organization board member companies will include AT&T, Broadcom, Flextronics, Gill Electronics, Integrated Device Technologies, Intel, MediaTek, Powermat Technologies, Proctor & Gamble, Qualcomm, Samsung Electronics, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Semtech, Starbucks and WiTricity.
The wireless power industry and the overall marketplace have reacted positively and we have issued an FAQ document to ensure everyone is properly informed.

The IPG (Inductive Power Group) has begun V&V Review of the Tx, Rx, and HCI specifications for System Release 1 Enhancements (SR1E) this month. V&V comments are due by end of day on Tuesday 30 June 2015. The SR1E release will include five (5) new Tx Types, covering a wide variety of applications and increased wireless power transfer (WPT) levels of up to 15 Watts. IPG is also working on a point release of TS-0003-0 Tx Specification – System Release 1 (SR1) to add PMA-7 and PMA-8 Tx Types to the SR1 list of devices. Finally, IPG has published TR-0002-0 v1.00 Device Design Issues Affecting Performance of Product Families**.
The NWG (Network Working Group) has now published six (6) SR1E volumes of the PMA TS-0005-0 PMA Wireless Power Transfer Network (WPTN) Specification**.This specification is WPT technology agnostic so that it can link PMA Inductive, A4WP Rezence™, and other WPT devices. The NWG is now dormant.
The MPG (Multimode Power Group) still in development on PMA TS-0006 A4WP/PMA Specification for Multimode Operations and intends to release this spec for V&V Review this month.
The CWG (Certification Working Group) has juggling development of SR1 Tx Compliance Test Procedures for PMA-3, PMA-7, and PMA-8, upgrading CD-0011-0 PMA Interoperability Test Scenarios - SR1 to cover both Rx and Tx devices, as well as completion of point releases for CD-0001-0 Certification Program Manual and CD-0005-0 Rx Compliance Test Procedures – SR1.
The new UPG (Uncoupled Power WG) has now published PMA-RQ-0005-0 v1.00 Multimode Marketing Requirements Document for Uncoupled WPT Technologies**.

CERTIFICATION PROGRAM UPDATE
PMA Tx Conformance is underway in multiple Authorized Certification Laboratories throughout the world. The PMA Tx Certification Program allows vendors to expedite time-to-market and implement interoperability best practices to deliver an optimal consumer experience.
PMA invites all members to register here for certification. Contact the PMA Authorized Certification Lab or your choice for pricing; the Certification Testing Quick Start Guide contains instructions and contact information of the various labs for each geographic region.
The Manual Tx Tester developed jointly between PMA and etatronix was delivered to and validated by UL Fremont. The Manual Tx Tester provides for significant programmability, and hardware ready for System Release 1E.
The PMA Automated Rx Tester is undergoing an upgrade program. This upgrade program replaces the existing PMA-1 Tx Test Head with a new PMA Tx Test Head. This new PMA Tx Test Head will first implement PMA-3 support, but is firmware upgradable to emulate all PMA Tx types defined in System Release 1E.

Transmitter Development Test Head Available
The PMA Transmitter Development Test Head, developed by etatronix is available now and features a state-of-the art GUI (graphic user interface) configurator.
