Farmers posted record aggregate net cash income last year

Canadian farmers generated a record $14 billion in aggregate net cash income in 2014, according to a new Agriculture Canada report released recently. Taken down to the farm level, that's an all-time high of $78,139 in average net operating income.

Canadian tractor sales down 16 per cent in January, combines down 78 per cent

According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers' monthly "Flash Report," the sales of all tractors in Canada for January 2015 were down 16 per cent compared to the same month last year. For the year 2015, a total of 1,432 tractors were sold, which compares to 1,709 sold through January 2014.

Eight challenges face global tractor marketers in the year ahead, says a new sales report from the Agrievolution Alliance. Agrievolution estimates see a decline in the global tractor market by another five per cent in 2015, with stronger trends in the emerging markets and weaker demand in the developed markets of North America and Western Europe.

Smart Seeder poised for production

The CX-6 Smart Seeder will be available for sale next year. Clean Seed Capital Group of Vancouver, which designed the precision seeding unit, has an agreement with WS Steel in Steinbach, MB, to begin commercial manufacturing, as well as a separate agreement with Rocky Mountain Dealerships to market it across Western Canada.
