Dealerships weather down-turn

Selling farm equipment is big business. The two largest farm equipment dealership networks in Canada had combined revenue of close to $2 billion in 2014 and profits of almost $37.5 million. Cervus Equipment, which focuses on John Deere and Peterbilt equipment, and Rocky Mountain Equipment, which concentrates on Case IH-New Holland, each recently presented their annual financial reports.

Ritchie Bros. to conduct 58 agricultural auctions in Canada over the next 6 weeks

Ritchie Bros., the world's largest auctioneer of farm, construction and other equipment, will conduct 58 unreserved public agricultural auctions in Canada during March and April 2015. Thousands of items will be sold in the auctions, including more than 400 agricultural tractors, more than 135 air drills, more than 100 combines, more than 100 headers, more than 85 swathers and a large selection of farmland.

New Holland's Boomer tractors win award at SIMA

New Holland's Boomer compact tractors series has been awarded the title of "Machine of the Year 2015" in the Compact and Specialized category at the SIMA 2015 show in Paris. The new Tier 4B-compliant Boomer 54D model runs a Common Rail FPT Industrial engine and features a SuperSuite cab and EasyDrive continuously variable transmission.

Case New Holland lays off 443 employees in Saskatoon

More than 400 employees at Saskatoon's Case New Holland manufacturing plant have received layoff notices. CNH Industrial Canada announced it is cutting its workforce at the Saskatoon facility by giving indefinite layoffs to 75 employees that will begin in May and temporary layoffs to 338 employees that will last from May until August.
