North America welcomes the Horsch Maestro planter

Horsch has been selling the Maestro planter for over two years in Europe, and now, with a few minor adjustments, Horsch has catered the outfit to its North American cliental. The unit, ISOBUS-compatible, holds up to 1,000 gallons of liquid fertilizer and is available with 12 or 24 rows on 30 inch spacing. Besides being equipped with six-section liquid control, the Maestro’s metering system is driven by an electric motor, meaning fewer vibrations, a smoother ride and high seed placement accuracy.

CEEDA Dealer Profile: Coleman Equipment

Coleman Equipment Inc has seen a lot of changes over the last 65 years in the farm equipment industry. O.T. Coleman started fixing cars in 1920 in downtown Kitchener. In 1922 he moved his business to the family farm just south of New Dundee. It wasn't until 1939 with the modernization of farming that 'O.T.' sold his first tractor, a Minneapolis Moline (MM) 'G'. From that point on it was farm equipment that dominated the business.

Latest Vredo overseeder doubles seed quantity

Vredo's latest Agri Air overseeder can handle double the quantity and a greater variety of seed, says U.K. importer JC Machinery. It comes with the same large pneumatic seed hopper as the existing Vredo Agri Twin overseeder and is available in 4.4m and 5.8m working widths and with hydraulic pneumatic seed distribution.

Hexagon signs an agreement to acquire Arvus

Hexagon AB, a global provider of design, measurement and visualization technologies, has signed an agreement to acquire Arvus, a manufacturer of precision farming solutions for closer, more site-specific management of the factors affecting crop production. This means different parts of a field can be managed separately, where the application of essential nutrients and various other inputs can be fine-tuned through the use of sensors and GPS technologies.

New SeedStar mobile app from John Deere

With spring planting underway, John Deere is completing the final round of testing of its new iPad app for planters called SeedStar Mobile, first previewed at National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, KY. Due out in 2015, the app is designed to work in conjunction with the GreenStar 3 2630 display, on select planter models. Depending upon the configuration of the planter, SeedStar Mobile collects and monitors seed population rates, singulation, seed spacing, applied downforce, gauge wheel margin, variety, ride quality, and ground speed on a row-by-row basis.

CNH Industrial to build Sumitomo crawler excavators under new agreement
Equipment World
CNH Industrial, maker of the Case Construction and New Holland equipment brands, announced today that it has secured the rights to manufacture crawler excavators under the Sumitomo name. CNH Industrial CEO Richard Tobin said the move completes the company's transition away from a "dual source excavator strategy to a single global partner" in Sumitomo.

Utilizing UAV imagery with SMS advanced

The production ag community has envisioned the many benefits of utilizing UAV technology since its inception. With many affordable solutions on the market today, ag professionals have begun offering services, and growers have realized the opportunity of using their own UAVs in their operations. While UAVs have become more affordable, often this technology has required the purchase of additional software programs to stitch, process and analyze captured imagery. While SMS doesn’t currently offer image stitching tools, the software is capable of processing and analyzing the raw NIR imagery.
