• The purpose of Canada East Equipment Dealers' Association is to promote and enhance the general welfare of retail equipment dealers primarily in the Province of Ontario and Maritime Provinces.

• Our mission is to promote and enhance the general welfare of our dealer members by providing a timely source of industry information, representing dealer interests in government regulation and legislation, enhancing dealer and employee education, supporting equitable dealer/manufacturer relations and offering specific business-related services which enhance the success and profitability of dealer members.

Cervus Equipment increases stake in Australian farm equipment dealer

Cervus Equipment, which invests in dealerships that handle a variety of brands such as John Deere, Bobcat, Clark and Nissan, has raised its ownership stake in an Australian agriculture dealership to 53.3 per cent. The Calgary-based equipment dealer said that it paid about $500,000 to buy an additional 18.6 per cent of Windmill AG Pty, which has five John Deer locations in the state of Victoria in Australia.

Caterpillar's new 56 Tonne 836K landfill compactor

Caterpillar has launched its 56 tonne 836K landfill compactor, the latest update to the 836 series which has been a staple for landfill operators for almost 20 years. According to the company the 419 kW (562 hp) machine offers improved fuel consumption thanks to its lock up torque converter, which also transfers more power to the ground, as well as its automatic engine and electrical system shutdown.

Toro reports record second quarter

The Toro Company has reported net earnings of $78.4 million on a net sales increase of 1.9 per cent to $704.5 million for its fiscal second quarter ended May 3, 2013. In the comparable fiscal 2012 period, the company delivered net earnings of $68.8 million on net sales of $691.5 million.

Westeel buys Italian grain conveyor maker

Winnipeg grain storage and handling equipment maker Westeel plans to offer customers worldwide a "more comprehensive" product line by buying further into the grain conveyor business. Westeel, the grain and liquid storage products arm of Oakville, ON-based Vicwest Inc., recently announced it has bought PTM Technology, an Italian designer and manufacturer of automated grain handling systems including chain, bucket and belt conveyors, grain sampling and dust collection equipment.

B100, a 100 per cent biodiesel mixture, to fuel pulling tractors

A partnership between U.S. soybean farmers and the National Tractor Pullers Association (NTPA) reached another milestone when the NTPA began allowing the use of 100 per cent biodiesel, in all diesel pulling classes for this season. A study funded by the state soy checkoff board in Minnesota and conducted by United Pullers of Minnesota, found using biodiesel in pulling competition can provide a 4 percent increase in torque and horsepower.

Enovos inaugurates 10 MW wind power farm in France

The Souilly wind power farm, which started production in November 2012, consists of five wind turbines with a generating capacity of 2 MW each. The site has an estimated annual production of more than 22,000,000 kWh a year, enough to provide eco-friendly electricity to around 5,500 households, corresponding to a town of the size of Verdun.
