The folks at agriculture and construction equipment dealer Titan Machinery could attest to that. The company has used its financial prowess to buy up small mom-and-pop outfits in its fragmented field. Since 2003, it's bought 45 dealers, 30 of which it has acquired since going public Dec. 6, 2007. Using this strategy, Titan has built a network of 96 dealerships in the U.S. and 10 in Europe. They all sell farming and construction equipment from Netherlands-based CNH Global, with brands such as Case IH, Case Construction and New Holland Agriculture. More

Fiat Industrial to merge with CNH Farm unit

Fiat Industrial SpA, the truck and tractor manufacturer that carmaker Fiat SpA spun off in 2011, plans to merge with its CNH Global NV unit and move its primary listing to New York to lure more investors worldwide. Fiat Industrial, which controls the tractor maker through an 88 per cent stake, proposed to CNH's board the creation of a new company in a share exchange that wouldn't include a premium for either companies' investors, the Turin, Italy-based company said in a statement. Federation busy with farm equipment rentals

This is the second year the Cape Breton Richmond Federation of Agriculture has rented out farm machinery, and the demand continues to grow. The federation took over the rental of farm machinery from the Bras d'Or Farmer's Co-op. Equipment available includes different size seeders, spreaders and balers, as well as drills, a combine, a post driver and a land leveller. More

Eastern Canada's largest packing plant for cull cattle has stopped buying animals and halted its operations indefinitely. The Federation des producteurs de bovins du Quebec said it has to postpone the implementation of its proposed fiscal recovery plan for the producer-owned Levinoff-Colbex beef plant at St-Cyrille-de-Wendover.
