AEM: Inventory reversal suggests ag equipment market on the mend

Although recent reports indicate a continued downturn in the agricultural equipment industry, a reversal in inventory growth seems to suggest that the market is slowly repairing itself. Benjamin Duyck, AEM market intelligence director, said the net rising index year-over-year for both demand and employment continue to be negative in AEM's Q1 2015 North American agricultural industry conditions trends report.

Hesston 1375 mower offers rock-skipping, free-swinging knives and speed

The Hesston 1375 isn't only the newest of the 1300 series by Massey Ferguson, it's also the biggest. Weighing in at over 7000lbs, the centre-pivot mower conditioner is 4.6m wide. The machine uses 10 rotary discs, each with 10 free-swinging reversible knives, to cut crops at 1.3 to 3" in height. And just when you thought the rock-skipping knives couldn't be any cooler, you find out that they can reach speeds up to 176 mph at 3000 rpm.

John Deere issues recall: Riding lawn tractors could crash

John Deere is recalling close to 2,000 riding lawn tractors, including 370 in Canada because the brake arm on the lawn tractor could fail, causing the tractor to crash. The recall involves John Deere models D110, D125, D130, D140, D155, D160 and D170 with serial numbers beginning with 1GXD

International agricultural productivity growth remains uneven

Agricultural total factor productivity (TFP) is the difference between the aggregate total output of crop/livestock commodities and the combined use of land, labor, capital and material inputs employed in farm production. Growth in TFP implies that the adoption of new technology or improved management of farm resources is increasing average productivity or efficiency of input use.

Nuhn's big-distance Lagoon Crawler — so you don't have to

Oh to be a fly on the side of the Lagoon Crawler. The amphibious machine, developed by Nuhn Industries, runs on a Cummins engine and is remote controlled up to 1000 feet, allowing for successful lagoon agitation, even from a smell-safe distance. The header pump is at the bottom of the Crawler, and being submerged means there's no need to prime.
