Saskatchewan farm equipment dealers worried over Russian turmoil

It is not just pork producers in Saskatchewan who are being hit hard by the political and military turmoil in Russia. Manufacturers of farm machinery are also affected. The Saskatchewan Manufacturing Council says that the drop in Russia's currency and the dwindling government support for farmers in that country is affecting the market.

CLAAS puts its stamp on Western Canada

Farmers across Western Canada may notice two very remarkable things on the Prairie landscape soon — stand alone CLAAS dealerships and brightly coloured Xerion tractors. Caterpillar recently announced its shift out of the agriculture market, which started a chain reaction that will see CLAAS, a company who had a distribution deal for its Lexion combines with the company, establish its own dealer network on the Canadian Prairies. As Mark Oehmke, vice president of sales for CLAAS North America, explains in this video filmed at Canada’s Farm Progress Show, Regina, Saskatoon and Swift Current will all eventually host dealerships and service centres.

Case IH shows latest tractor and combine upgrades

Case IH Magnum tractors have had a gentle refresh and a bit more power for 2015, thanks largely to the need to meet the latest Stage IV/Tier 4 final emissions regulations. So the five models now top out at 250hp, 280hp, 310hp, 340hp and 380hp, with the top-of-the-range 380 putting out 435hp when its powerboost is operating. All use 8.7-litre Fiat Cursor 9 engines and a choice of CVT and powershift transmissions. However, if you want the top model you have to go for CVT.

Its modular storage system can be configured to carry one or two chainsaws, plus fuel, oil and tools. The equipment is stored safely and can also be locked in place using the security cable.

New loader range gives latest Landini tractors a powerful lift

A new range of Landini tractor loaders has been introduced as the result of a pan-European agreement between Argo Tractors, the manufacturer of Landini products, and loader specialist Manip’. The agreement results from the positive relationship developed between Manip’ and Argo’s French distribution company over several years. It ensures the availability of a complete range of loaders to suit the latest generation Landini tractors currently being rolled out, as well as models dating back to the early 1990s.

New cleaner mid-range tractors

Challenger officially announced the release of its new MT500E series large-frame tractors. The media got to preview the series last month at Agco’s Jackson, MN, tractor facility. The new MT500E series consists of five models that range from 185 to 255 maximum hp. Jon Slama, marketing specialist for high-hp tractors, says the size makes it a versatile tractor for the farm.
