P.E.I. potato farmers size up GPS-controlled sprayer

Members of the East Prince Agri-Environmental Association recently gathered in a farm field near Summerside to see a GPS-controlled sprayer in action. Aim Command is a new technology that uses geographical data from satellites to help farmers better control their spraying equipment as they apply pesticides to fields.

CLAAS opens dealerships in Saskatchewan

With the recent opening of facilities in Regina and Saskatoon, CLAAS of America has completed the first steps of its repositioning following Kramer's decision last year to leave the agricultural equipment business.
 CLAAS-owned Canada West Harvest Centre in Emerald Park, just east of Regina, is a permanent full service retail centre offering service and parts with a staff of 15.

Canadian coalition drives development of national strategy
Association of Equipment Manufacturers
A Canadian manufacturing coalition in which AEM participates played a pivotal role in developing the Canadian federal government's new investment-friendly national manufacturing strategy. "Not only have we influenced specific actions of the Government, but the general themes they are promoting fit into most of our priority areas — tax competitiveness, opening new markets, promoting skills training and advanced technologies and R&D," said Jayson Myers, president & CEO of the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters and Chair of the Canadian Manufacturing Coalition (CMC).

V-shaped tile plow reduces soil disturbance and ruts

Tile drainage in North America has traditionally been installed with a single-leg plow that rips a vertical groove in the soil as it lays the pipe in the ground. Depending on soil type and moisture conditions, the single-shank will disturb the soil and leave a rut or soft spot that can take years to settle.
