New Holland parent company to buy Miller-St. Nazianz

CNH Industrial announced the expansion of its agricultural machinery portfolio with the acquisition of Miller-St. Nazian, a precision spraying equipment manufacture. The assets of Miller acquired as part of the transaction will become part of New Holland Agriculture, a CNH Industrial brand. CNH Industrial, based in the U.K., is a global manufacture of farm equipment.

Titan Machinery reports revenues of $451 million
Farm Equipment
Titan Machinery has reported financial results for the fiscal second quarter and first six months ended July 31, 2014. For the second quarter of fiscal 2015, revenue was $451.0 million, compared to $488.2 million in the second quarter last year. Equipment sales were $320.1 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2015, compared to $358.4 million in the second quarter last year.

Claas plans new network

Claas had to adjust quickly after Kramer Ltd.’s decision last spring to get out of the agriculture business. Kramer had sold and supported Claas’s Lexion combine for 15 years, and there are customers who still need sales and service support across the Prairies. A new retail location, Tingley’s Harvest Centre in North Battleford, SK, was established, and now another dealership is opening: Canada West Harvest Centre near Regina.

Caterpillar launches 824K wheel dozer with cab improvements, larger fuel tank

Caterpillar has launched its new 824K wheel dozer, featuring powertrain, cab and serviceability improvements. The new 824K is powered by Cat's C15 ACERT engine, producing 405 horsepower. The machine has a maximum operating weight of 74,966 pounds and is available with six blade configurations ranging in capacity from 6.6 to 21.1 cubic yards.

Agri in France, the latest models comprise the five-walker C7205 and the six-walker C7206. Each is available in standard (drum-and-concave plus beater), TS (with the addition of rigid-finger Turbo Separator) and TSB (separator plus Deutz-Fahr’s Balance automatic slope compensation system) specification.

Service to flag possible farm equipment safety issues

Farmers wanting to air concerns about possible safety hazards on new equipment now have another channel to move those issues forward. The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) has launched its “Speak Up For Safer Equipment” tool, an online form farmers can use to report safety concerns with farm equipment manufactured in the past five years.

Cogent3D has released its newest version of iCropTrak and the application now features “on-board” processing for mobile analytics that is based on technology originally developed for the military. This technology is a bit different than many that are based in the “cloud” or on your desktop. New MF 8700 series ups the power stakes for Massey Ferguson

Massey Ferguson has stepped up into the high power stakes with its 400hp (298kW) MF 8737 launched as part of its new 8700 Series. The series was launched at AGCO’s Vision of the Future expo recently as the successor to the MF 8600s, which were the first agricultural tractors to use Selective Catalytic Reduction technology. The five new models are powered by the latest AGCO Power engines, which comply with Stage IV/Tier 4 final emissions regulations and feature changes to the transmission, cab and controls.

New Fendt 700 series tractors make their debut in January 2015

Canadian farmers can expect to see the new Fendt 700 series tractors on dealer lots in January 2015. At the recent Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa, Conor Bergin, AGCO’s product marketing manager for high horsepower tractors gave RealAgriculture.com a tour of the new tractor, the only one currently in North America. The new Fendt is all about versatility, says Bergin. Models range from 110 to 195 PTO horsepower and will fit a lot of different farm needs, including light to medium tillage work, smaller air seeders or six to 16 row planters as well as round and square balers.

Lely predicts further growth in demand for milking robots

Akron company builds drones for farm use

Ohio may be a frontrunner in drone technology, thanks to one Akron man’s business, according to The Plain Dealer. Event 38 Unmanned Systems, started by Jeff Taylor, manufactures drones for farmers to use in their fields. Drones can be useful to farmers by providing aerial snapshots of fields, including thermal images that tell the temperature of plants, and also can save farmers from walking through their acres upon acres of crops.
