Kverneland cuts weight on its drills
Farmers Weekly Interactive
The layout on Kverneland's latest U-drill may be similar to existing models, with packer tyres leading two rows of discs, then a staggered row of packer/transport tyres and a new double-disc coulter assembly. As well as a continuous flow for the fan, the U-drill needs only one single-acting hydraulic service and just 3.5 litres of oil. In-cab selection and transducers on the depth adjustment cylinders enable the U-drill operator to alter depth on the move and lift out the front tyres.

Inflate, deflate tire pressure quickly from cab
The Western Producer
Soft low-pressure implement tires are best in the field. Harder higher pressure tires are best in transit. Can farmers have their cake and eat it, too? An Ontario producer thinks they can. Some of the latest tractor tires are designed to operate as low as six pounds per sq. inch in the field, but 10 pounds to 20 p.s.i. is a more common range. Low tire pressure in the field increases footprint and traction and reduces soil compaction, fuel consumption and tire wear.
