Easy transport, low maintenance: Honey Bee's AirFlex Header

Honey Bee’s new AirFlex draper header created quite the buzz at Agri-Trade recently. The header can be used in flex or rigid mode, with the transition between them requiring the push of a button and only a few minutes worth of patience. In flex mode, the cutterbar shaves the ground with 9″ worth of flex, making it a good fit for low-lying pulse crops.

John Deere reaches out to developers

John Deere kicked off what’s becoming an annual conference for developers. The 2014 Develop with Deere conference brings together dealers, independent agricultural software application developers and John Deere staff primarily from their Intelligent Solutions Group. Kicking things off was a keynote presentation by Pat Pinkston, Vice President, Technology and Information Solutions, Agriculture and Turf Division. Pat talked about the challenges and opportunities of new technology in the precision area.

How engineers invented the rubber-belted ag tractor

In the late 1970s, Caterpillar had been selling a limited number of SA (Special Application) crawlers to farmers. But the high-horsepower, articulated, four-wheel drive ag tractors that were pouring onto the market were eating into demand for those machines. For that and other reasons Caterpillar executives eventually decided to develop and market their own four-wheel drive ag tractor.

Kubota introduces new utility tractor model

Hagie aims high in sprayer equipment

The term “high clearance sprayer” takes on new meaning when these machines fight to stay atop corn hybrids that have recently gone from six to eight feet tall. Hagie is one of the companies trying to keep up with the higher crops. Its new STS12i sprayer, which it debuted at the Big Iron show in Fargo earlier this year, now has 73 inches free clearance.
