Ritchie Bros. $43 million agriculture equipment auction its best-ever

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, the world's largest auctioneer of agriculture, construction and other heavy equipment, conducted its largest ever agriculture auction, in Saskatoon, Sask. on Dec. 3, selling more than $43 million of equipment and trucks in a single day. The unreserved public auction also set a new Saskatoon site record for number of bidders: more than 4,350 bidders from 27 countries registered to participate in the auction. Every item in the auction was sold without minimum bids or reserve prices.

App allows Komatsu owners to view data on Apple, Android devices

Komatsu America has released a new app that gives owners the ability to browse their Komtrax fleet monitoring data on their iPhone, iPad and/or Android tablet or smartphone. Introduced in 2005, Komatrax comes standard on all new Komatsu machines and wirelessly sends machine operating information to a secure website for owners to browse.

'Canadians' snow machines set to command Sochi slopes

The Sochi Winter Olympics do not start for another two months, but already the Canadians are preparing to take full command of the slopes. The "Canadians" are a fleet of Quebec-built snow-grooming machines that will rumble up and down the ski runs, sometimes at crazy angles, to ensure the Olympic skiers compete on snow that is manicured to perfection – no bumps, ruts or nasty outcroppings of rock that could wreck their high-speed runs, or worse, take them to the hospital.

Mahindra USA announces new tractor models

Mahindra USA, has introduced eight new Tier IV compliant tractors. Here are the new Mahindra tractors to be available in January 2014 (the Max 24 will be available in December 2013). Each of the new tractors is Tier IV compliant while the mPower 75, 3550, 4550, 5555 and 4565 tractors all feature the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), unique to the Mahindra mCRD engine.

New pallet forks for John Deere loaders from Worksaver

Two new pallet fork models are available from Worksaver, Inc., which are designed for John Deere H480 loaders with the Global Series II tool carrier. The forks help growers to improve productivity. The JDPF-H48048 model is rated at 7,500 lbs. with Class III forks of 1.75" x 4.25" x 48". The JDPF-H48060 pallet fork is also rated at 7,500 lbs. with Class III forks of 1.75" x 4.25" x 60".

CVT choice offers perfect tractor working speed

When Fendt unveiled the first practical continuously variable transmission, it did more than just bring a new level of speed control and adjustment. It brought the engine and transmission together to perform as an integrated unit. Prior to this CVT development, it was entirely down to the operator to choose the combination of engine speed (bearing in mind the engine's power and torque characteristics) and gear ratio that best suited the job in hand.

Lamborghini tractors to debut in India

Lamborghini, the super-car manufacturer that started out as tractor makers, is returning to its roots in the Indian market by launching their tractor range. The company will target high net-worth individuals, rich farmers, etc. In 1973, Italian company SAME Deutz-Fahr acquired Lamborghini tractor, while the company began manufacturing its tractors out of a small facility set up by SDF near Ranipet in Tamil Nadu in 2005.
